A dream that recovers the name of the original 19th-century lodging and serves as a bridge between the past and the present, honoring the rich history that beats in every corner of Puerta del Sol.

La Fonda de los Príncipes first opened its doors on October 1st, 1861, being one of the first lodgings in Puerta del Sol. Famous for its luxury and exclusivity, over time it acquired different names. From Fonda de los Príncipes it became Hotel de los Príncipes; later, Hotel de la Paix; over the years, already in the 20th century, it changed its name to Pensión Americana, subsequently, Hotel Americano, and finally, until its closure in March 2020, Hostal Americano.

After a meticulous renovation to adapt it to the needs and comforts of today's travelers, on January 5th, 2026, almost 165 years after the original inauguration, the new La Fonda de los Príncipes is reborn.

I trust that this rebirth of La Fonda will offer Madrid's travelers another 165 years of magic and hospitality with the best views of Puerta del Sol.
